This intriguing, although somewhat subjective graphic is the "The Inglehart-Welzel Cultural Map of the World", which is designed and based on research by the World Values Survey.
The WVS is a global research project, carried out by a network of research scientists, whose mission it is to: "Explore people’s values and beliefs, their changes over time and their social and political effects."
Based in Sweden, with archives in Spain, and a predominantly European team, the organization generates findings valuable to policy makers in building civil society and democratic institutions.
Their work is also used by governments and international organizations and institutions, such as the World Bank and the United Nations.
Do you agree with this map? What would you change about it, based on your experiences from your nation, or from visiting other nations?
